Proposals for AGM 30th August 2022

1. The committee will attempt to get Divisional sponsors, whose logo and contact would be published on all forms and scoresheets in their division, to create extra income for the Weston Pool Leagues benefit. We currently have 2 potential sponsors but are looking for more. Proposed by the committee

It makes no difference re scoresheets as we print our own.

2. In the unusual event of a draw occurring due to missing player(s) A win would be awarded by way of a Black ball shootout, whereby an equal number of players from each team have 1 attempt at a successful shot and should this still result in a draw, sudden death as per football penalty style. A blackball shoot out is where the black ball is placed on its spot, and the player may place the white ball anywhere behind the line. They attempt to pot the black in 1 visit by making a legal shot. Proposed by the committee

Why not just play 1 extra frame with the team choice of player?

3. Once a player has Won in any Category 2 singles or doubles competition, they will in future have to compete in the Category 1 singles and doubles competitions. ( a copy of all winners to be kept by the committee). (effective from the end of the next season). Proposed by the committee

Depends on how the future is defined. Following season or forever more?

4. To Run singles and doubles as 1-day comps from a designated start time to a designated finish time, with a potential for the last rounds to come back on a different day as agreed by those left in the competition. This would remove the issues of players not knowing if they are available prior to entering, and teams losing points for no-shows. Proposed by the committee

Not everyone would want to spend a whole day at allstars. Plus how would other venues benefit by potentially losing the first rounds?

5. To run other 1 day comps e.g. Ladies singles, Disabled singles, Scotch Doubles, 3 man events, Over 60, as well as under 23s and over 50s we currently run. Proposed by the committee

Is a single-sex competition not discriminatory these days?

6. To run a Captain’s cup competition by way of 1 more frame either before the beginning or after the end of every league match. (If the captain is not present the Vice Captain – selected at the beginning of the season, may play the frame) ( or as one-day comp). Proposed by the committee

Would this be included in the score for the match? Not always possible due to late finishes.

7. Where divisions are split into 2 categories for competition purposes the categories will be decided by- Even numbers of divisions will be a 50% split, odd number of divisions, the higher percentage will play in Category 2. Proposed by the committee

OR

For Cup games, Category 1 be limited to division 1 and 2 Category 2 is to be division 3 bottom. proposed by the stubs. A similar proposal from the social bunch.

The first part would be better.

8. At the end of the season a Challenge cup game is played in each division whereby the winning team plays against a team made up of the top 9 ranked players in their division ( excluding their own players) This is to encourage the use of the statistics part of the website, which most use, but a few do not. Plus a possible for Presentation night interest. May need to use percentage as well as position. Proposed by the committee

Pointless in my opinion.

9. A player may change teams during the first half of the season if both captains agree. This can only be done once and must be before the first match of the reverse fixtures. So that if for any reason a player does not get on with or feels they cannot stay with the team they joined. Proposed by Gurneys

No opinion really.

10. Adding Statistics for games will be mandatory for teams in Category 1. (All team captains are expected to take a picture to record the team sheet after the game ). Proposed by the committee

Could never agree to mandatory stats regardless.
